April 7, 1953 – June 16, 2025
Hi everyone, this is the obituary for my mom, one heck of a woman. Judith Anne (Park) Sellers and please just call her Judy. She passed away peacefully on the morning of June 16, 2025, with a sunrise as radiant as her spirit. Born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, Judy lived a life full of color, laughter, and love. She found joy in painting, playing tennis, and spending time at the beach listening to live music—always surrounded by beauty and good company.
A proud graduate of Woodham High School (Go Titans!), Class of 1971, Judy went on to earn her B.A. in English, Education, and Speech Communications from the University of South Florida. She later returned to her hometown to pursue a Master’s in Education and a Specialist Degree in Reading from the University of West Florida.
She dedicated her career to teaching and mentoring, inspiring countless students through her work as an English teacher, volleyball coach, club sponsor, and prom planner. She was known for her creativity, warmth, and the unforgettable field trips—especially those magical journeys to Disney World.
Judy shared nearly five decades of love and laughter with her husband, James Sellers, whom she married in October 1978 at Klondike Baptist Church. Together, they raised a family, built a life full of joy, and never passed up a good movie—especially if it came with popcorn. James was her steady hand, her favorite movie date, and the one who could always make her laugh.
In her later years, Judy found joy and laughter with her friends at The Claiborne and made even more connections at the First Baptist Church of Newnan, Georgia. Her sense of humor, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Leslie, who she adored and talked about often and Bertha Park who was also one heck of a woman—two people she cherished deeply.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, James Sellers; her daughter Kimberly Buxton (Jonathon); her son Michael Sellers; and her beloved grandchildren that she loved more than sweet tea and a game of skip-bo combined. Kimo Sellers, Vivian Sellers, Leslie Buxton, Penelope Buxton, and two bonus grandchildren, Chase and Ryker.
Judy’s absence leaves a space that can never be filled. Her laughter, sass, and boundless love made life brighter for everyone lucky enough to know her. Whether you were family, friend, student, or stranger, if you crossed paths with Judy, you were better for it.
In true Judy fashion, guests are encouraged to wear blue, butterflies, or your blingiest attire—a reflection of her vibrant personality and love for all things joyful.
Please join us as we celebrate Judith's life at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, FL 32503. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
