

Katharine (Kay) 95 was called home by her Heavenly Father on December 23, 2015. She was born on July 9, 1920 in Germantown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clarence True Houser and Sarah Edith Weber Houser. She was also preceded in death by her loving Husband Edward Fredrick Hurlburt, her brother Albert Weber Houser and her sister Mary Elisabeth Houser Layman.
Kay was a 1947 Graduate of Ohio State University where she received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education. She was an avid Ohio State football fan, go Buckeyes! After college she moved to New York City where she flourished in the big apple. In 1951 she moved to Pensacola where she fell in love with the Gulf of Mexico, the beautiful white beaches and the warm climate.
She held many positions throughout her life, including school teacher, social worker and manager of the local S & H Green Stamp store. Her love of Pensacola led her to a career in Real Estate where she found her calling as a Realtor with Donovan Realty for 20 years before retiring at age 75.
Kay loved animals, gardening and poetry. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing well into her 90’s. Most of all, she loved her family with a caring and giving heart. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great -grandmother.
She is survived by her son John Bair, two daughters, Patricia Hubbard (husband Frank) and Denise Ebert (husband Art), her grandson Donnie Cox, three granddaughters, Jennifer Bair, Shelly Bair and Anna Hubbard, her great- granddaughter Breanna Cox and many nephews and nieces.
A special heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses, caregivers, therapist, social workers and staff at Covenant Hospice, Primary Care House Calls, Counsel on Aging, SunCrest Omni and TLC Caregivers for the loving care, kindness and support you gave.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday December 30, 2015 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.
