Rea Glass, aged 85, passed away on May 30th, 2023, in Pensacola, FL. Born on December 1st, 1937, in Key West, FL, she was the daughter of Leslie E. Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Turner Thompson. Rea was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Glass, son Kenneth Leslie Glass, granddaughter Zaylie Mackensey, parents, and sisters Joy, Ruth Rose, Netsie, Nina, and Nora.
Rea had a fulfilling career, working at BellSouth for 37 years as an operator, new accounts rep, and teller in Key West and Pensacola, FL.
Rea was a devout Christian who attended Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Key West, First Assembly of God, and New Life Church of God in Pensacola. She was actively involved in speaking, teaching, and working with women's groups and children at all the churches she attended.
Rea was a loving mother to her daughters April and Wendy Glass, and a doting grandmother to Jason, Justin, Christopher, Zoe, and Zachary. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Nora, Anneliese, Henry, and Kenzie. Rea is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Rea had many titles throughout her life, including daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, Nana, Grandma, Aunt, and Ga Ga. However, those who knew her best believed that she could be summed up as a saint - someone who is set apart for God's special purpose, one who has dedicated themselves to the worship and service of the one true God. Rea's unconditional love taught her family how to parent, her unending service taught them to reach out and help those in need, her patience taught them that life could be handled with God's help one day at a time, her positive attitude taught them that their glass is never half empty, and her generosity taught them how to give all that they have. Her sweet smile till the end let them know her light will always shine brightly through them. Her life taught them how to be. Her legacy of love, fighting spirit, generosity, and kindness will be forever and eternally remembered.
