Linda Faye Saccaro Doherty loved people and had a knack for making them laugh. The stories she told about her big adventures growing up with friends, classmates at Pensacola High class of ’63, and the antics on the bay with her big sister Mary Ann Saccaro Bonner, were all hilarious. Equally as great as her stories was her quick wit and loving heart. Laughter was a hallmark of Linda’s personality and could fill any room with warmth and happiness.
Those who knew Linda are pretty sure that she was dancing when she arrived on January 11, 1945, to Daniel Saccaro and Ruby Anderson Saccaro. Her mom was a seamstress who made Linda’s dance costumes for her toe, jazz and tap recitals. She spent lots of hours mending her well-worn toe shoes which Linda treasured and kept with her most of her life. Her dad, who owned Saccaro Electric, shared his passion for fishing and crabbing with Linda and designed her own pink casting net.
Linda was proud to have worked for and retired from the United States Post Office. She loved the many new friends she made, the dogs that would “greet” her when delivering the mail, the looks she got when driving on the wrong side of the car, meeting people on her route, training new staff, collecting miniature mailboxes, keeping name badges, and any other memorabilia she found.
Except for the last six years, Linda spent her life in her beloved Pensacola. In 2019, Linda moved to Jacksonville Beach to be near her niece, Debra Bonner DeMars, and resided in an assisted living and memory care community.
Linda’s laughter, kindness, warm heart and dancing will be remembered by those who knew and adored her. She continued dancing until her light started to flicker and then it went out on September 2, 2025.
Linda is survived by her niece Debra Bonner DeMars (Lyle Sinell), her nephew Bill Bonner and daughter Ashley Bonner Feely, Jim Bonner (Tammy), her stepdaughters Tracie Doherty Corley (Bob Corley) and Shea Doherty McGraw, her grandchildren Taylor Corley, Kate McGraw and Tracy Corley Eline.
Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim Doherty. Their bantering was hilarious and, of course, they loved to dance! Also preceded in death, her parents Dan & Ruby Saccaro and her sister Mary Ann Saccaro Bonner.
