Mable was born in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, on January 9, 1921, the fourth of five siblings born to August Swanson and Ida Erickson Swanson. After graduation from high school Mable moved to Chicago and lived with her sister Signe and family. She worked in downtown Chicago for a few years and sang in the choir in the Lutheran Church.
In the early 1950’s Mable moved to Pensacola Florida, and there she met the love of her life, William Frances Fay. They were married on May 17, 1952 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mable and Bill both worked and retired from the Naval Air Station. They worked hard, traveled to many places in the U.S. and abroad, and served in various capacities in the church. After their retirement, Mable enjoyed being in their home on 30 Star Lake Drive and loved reading her Harlequin Romances! She also continued participating in activities in Immanuel Lutheran Church.
In 2007 her beloved Bill went to be with the Lord. Mable moved to Huntsville Alabama and spent the last few years of her life in an assisted living facility. She always kept her sense of humor.
Mable is survived by many nieces and nephews who reside throughout the U.S. Mable also has cousins and other family members who have many fond memories of her.
Mable went to be with the Lord at the age of 92 on March 28, 2013. She is now reunited with Bill and her two brothers and two sisters in heaven.
