

Margie Kosmas Sommers, 92 died peacefully Friday, September 16, 2016 at WF Covenant Hospice . Margie was the daughter of Nicholas and Edna Rhodes Kosmas and was born on July 18, 1924 in Los Angeles, CA.
She was married for 55 years to her husband Pat and together they raised nine children. She retired from Monsanto after 26 years and then went on to open and operate The Gift Box Ceramic Shop for the next 15 years. The shop was her pride and joy where she spent many hours expressing her artistic talent. For the last 10 years she resided at Carpenter’s Creek Assisted Living Facility where she enjoyed many friends and honed her skills as a pool shark. She is preceded in death by her husband Pat, sons, Pat Jr., Nick, and Barry, and daughter Toni, as well as grandchildren Fran Wallen and Scott Wilson. She is survived by her daughters: Crissie (Jim) Page, Danise Birchfield, Diane (Steven) Snigg, Starr (Mike) Jacobus, and Anjel (Randy) Tweet, as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Margie loved life and will be terribly missed.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with interment at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m.
