Born in Quincy, Illinois, Marian was the eldest child of Vera and Marion Uppinghouse. In her youth, she was a talented musician earning a college scholarship for upright bass. Notably, she was the only female musician in the dance band. Forgoing college, Marian wed Harris Williams and began a family, moving around the country as a Navy wife. In 1972, they settled down in Pensacola, Florida, and there she lived the rest of her beautiful life.
Marian loved nature. She enjoyed watching birds and squirrels from her kitchen window, often calling her children with excitement about a new bird visiting her yard. She had an appreciation of natural gardening and could often be found playing in the dirt. Marian was a devout Catholic and a founding member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, attending daily mass most of her life.
Cherished as a loving and supportive mother, Marian was also a caring granny, loyal friend, and true follower of Jesus. She was a quiet woman with a kind, gentle spirit, but she loved big in all the smallest of ways. Although we are celebrating her journey home to heaven, she will be greatly missed until we meet again.
She is survived by her children: Keith Williams (Dorothy), Kathleen Baker (Chris), Elizabeth Williams, Mary Katherine Donalson (Sam), Rebecca Burt (Danny), grandchildren Nicole Cranford (Jonathon), Christina Williams (Jeremy), Peyton Blocker (Zach), Paul Long, Devon Baker, Audrey Baker, Payton Donalson (Ethan), Garrett Donalson (Anna), Miles Burt, Owen Burt, and a number of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Williams, and grandson, Jeremy Baker.
