Mary Jean Booker

1931-2016

Mary Jean Whitfield Booker left this life to be rejoined with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2016. She was born on March 25, 1931 in Century, Florida, the fifth child of Lillie Mae Bondurant and Henry Albert Whitfield. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, William T. “Bill” Booker, granddaughter Leslie Michelle Booker Hildebrand, her sisters Kate, Christine, and Maxine, and brothers John and Wayne. She is survived by her loving family including son Larry (Peggy) Booker of Orlando, FL; Connie Mack (Cheryl) Booker of Cantonment, FL; and daughter Candy (Tom) Connolly of Pace, FL; Grandchildren Curtis Booker; Christin Taylor; and Patrick Connolly; Great-Grandchildren Shelby Penton, Courtney and Madison Booker, Brianna and Brandon Taylor, Samantha, Judson, and Marlie Hildebrand; and Brother Frank (Polly) Whitfield.

Mrs. Booker lived her life with a strong faith in her Lord and an overriding concern for her family. Throughout the course of her life, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but her greatest pleasure in life came from being “Granny” and “Nanny.” She was the anchor that held her family together and she will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 and the funeral at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Will Stone and Rev. Larry Huff of First Baptist Church in Cantonment, FL officiating. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.
