1945-2018
After a valiantly-fought battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Michael G. Adams, age 72, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Mike was born on September 13, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Claude Petrice Adams and Jimmie Lee (Fulton) Adams. He was a graduate of Tate High School. After high school, he joined the US Marine Corp, honorably serving his country for five years, where he received several accolades during his time in the military. Mike earned his welding certification from PJC. He spent most of his life working in construction as a welder/pipefitter. He was an active member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union #366 for many years.
Mike’s pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, Pops and uncle. He was admired and respected by his family and friends for being a man of great integrity and a loving, loyal friend. He had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed making his family and friends laugh. He was a boxing enthusiast, an avid watcher of westerns, a lover of soul music and enjoyed gardening.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory include his wife, Stacey Adams, his children: Tina (Bruce) Chavers of Molino, FL, Angela Adams of Brownwood, TX, Karla Adams, Jason Holstein and Willie Holstein, all of Pensacola, Dana (Ronnie) English of Beulah, FL; his brother Pera Alan Adams of Pasadena, TX; and his nephew Tony (Wendy) Adams of Laurel Hill, FL. He is also remembered and survived by his six grandsons and five granddaughters and multiple great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Taunja Adams and his brother Cary Adams.
Until we meet again, the memories of his legacy will live on in our hearts.
Services and visitation will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Family visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Visitation for the family to receive friends will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Jerry Fleming, will begin at noon. Pallbearers are Bruce Chavers, JR Dyer, Vince Killam, James Peterson, John Sasser and Rocky Sowers. Internment will take place at Bayview Memorial Park, immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to Lewy Body dementia research in Mike’s name.
