With somber hearts, the Bialota family announces the death of Michael Bialota on the day of January 27, 2026 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, at the age of 77. A beloved father and grandfather, friend, avid woodworker, storyteller, swimmer, motorcycle enthusiast, proud scriptwriter of the Screen Writers Guild, and in his final years, an avid Facebooker, Mike became an unforgettable figure to all who met him.
Born to Margaret Chmel and Adolph Bialota on September 16, 1948, in Canton, OH. Mike was known as shipmate, father "Dad", and grandfather "Mika Mika”. He attended The University of Wisconsin and Kent State, and later joined The United States Navy in 1967. In 1992, he married Kathleen Dabney, and soon had Corry and Natalie. After 30 faithful years of service, he retired as a Lieutenant Commander. Following his retirement from the Navy, Mike continued to Cocoa Beach, Florida and began his esteemed career as an engineer at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL. Mike continued to enjoy his love for the ocean, taking his family to the beach, swimming far past the buoys, and upsetting the lifeguards. In 2004, he moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi to pursue a new career at Northrop Grumman. In 2005, his family home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. In response, he restored the home, built all the furniture, and found a new hobby in which he truly excelled, woodworking. He was always passionate about his cooking and top-shelf spirits, and in heavy contrast, thoroughly enjoyed a Chinese buffet.
Mike is survived by his son Corry Bialota (Fiancé Audrey Presnell) and daughter Natalie Bialota. Also, by his beloved granddaughter, Ashton (daughter of Natalie). Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Dabney Bialota and his favorite dog, Drago the Doberman.
