Nelda T. Emmons passed away surrounded by family in a local Pensacola hospital on January 22, 2026. She was born on August 10, 1946, in Paul, Alabama, moved to Pensacola when she was 6 years old, and graduated from Pensacola High School in 1965. She met the love of her life and high school sweetheart “Bobby” Emmons and they were later owners/operators of Fairfield Sanitation Service in Pensacola, Florida.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, Truss F. Thomas of Paul, Alabama and Edna G. Thomas of Pensacola, Florida, as well as 3 brothers, Herman Thomas of Red Level, Alabama, Harold Thomas of Paul, Alabama and Ted Thomas of Paul, Alabama.
She is survived by her husband Robert Emmons, 3 children, Robert Emmons, Jr. (spouse Karen), Michael Emmons and Cynthia Hendricks (spouse Bill), one sister, Janice Brewer, a special sister-in-law, Mable, 5 granddaughters, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the Pensacola area.
Visitation will be held 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
