1923-2016
Nellie Alberta Barnes, age 93, was born February 17, 1923 in Flomaton, Alabama to Archie and Geneva Godwin. She passed away in Pensacola, Florida on March 13, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Etheridge Barnes. She is survived by one son, Richard Barnes of Pensacola, Florida and one daughter, Joyce Johnson of Pensacola, one grandson, William Merritt, one great-granddaughter, Melanie Nicole Merritt, as well as three sisters, Jessie Haddock, Bessie Williamson and Lois White. She was a homemaker and enjoyed going out to eat, traveling, planting flowers and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Plainview Baptist Church in Pensacola.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2016 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 10:30. Interment will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.
