Patricia Catherine Collins Brown was born February 12, 1935 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Leonard and Lillian Collins. The Collins family moved to Pensacola, FL when Patricia was four years old. There she attended local schools graduating from Pensacola Catholic High School 1953 and Sacred Heart School of Nursing 1956. She worked in local Pensacola hospitals while in her senior year of Nursing School during this time she met William Brown, a Navy Flight Instructor stationed at Whiting Field, Pensacola. They married in 1959, moved to numerous Naval duty stations, and grew their family; welcoming four children. Patricia left nursing to focus on raising her children. Her husband William Brown retired in 1975 after a 25 year career in the Navy and moved the Brown Family back to Pensacola, FL. Patricia returned to nursing after 18 years and worked part time until retiring in 1980. She felt strongly about good patient care and was a supporter of The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
Patricia was an active member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a member of several religious organizations; Association of the Miraculous Medal, St Jude League, and The Legion of Mary. She also enjoyed participating in social activities that included a membership to the Grand Lagoon Yacht Club and she was the founding member of the Pensacola Golden Girls, a lunch & laugh club! Patricia was an avid environmentalist and a passionate animal rights activist. She was a member or supporter of the National Wildlife Federation, the ASPCA, The Animal Sanctuary Kanab, Utah, and the Doris Day Animal League.
Most important to Patricia Brown (Mimi) was spending time with her family, friends, and enjoying gatherings with good food and much laughter!
She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Lillian Collins, and Brother Jack Collins. She is survived by her husband William Brown and four children Kevin Brown, Beth Mackin (John), Janet Goodall-Brown (Laura), and Martin Brown (Kathy.) Eleven grandchildren and two acquired grandchildren, Kyle Brown (Maureen), Konnor Brown (Samantha), Katey (Rett), Mary, Julie, and Amy Mackin, Catherine Timo, Colleen Malone (Michael), Sean Brown (Amy), Sarah Stephen (Jay), and Kelsey Brown, and Dana and David Teschel (Alyx.) Seven great grandchildren Brynleigh, Brooke, and Logan Timo, Riley and Zoey Malone, Georgia Brown, Oliver Stephen, and another Baby Brown on the way! Nephew and nieces, Brendan Collins, Ian and Matthew Collins, and Tanya Collins.
Visitation will take place from 10:30 am - 11:30 am on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will immediately follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
