

Phyllis Elsie Schulz Lewis, 91, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 17, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 21, 1932, in the rural town of Canova, South Dakota. She was the youngest of 13 children raised on a farm.
Upon high school graduation, Phyllis moved to Colorado and continued to Georgia. There she met and married her husband, Robert B. Lewis. They relocated to Pensacola, Florida, a place that would become home to their four children. Phyllis also continued in her chosen profession as a waitress. She worked at several well known restaurants such as Martines, The Driftwood, and Skopelos. She was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection where she served in various ministries. She retired at the age of 70 and enjoyed her final years with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, eleven siblings, and her husband Robert Lewis.
Phyllis is survived by her sister and best friend, Marlys Strobel of Topeka, Kansas and four children, Penny (Carl) Baldwin, David (Linda) Lewis, Holly (Randy) Goforth, and Jill (Emile) Petro. She will forever be remembered as “Oma” to her grandchildren, Wes (Rachael), Abby, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Anna, and William; and to her great grandchildren, Aubree, Brooke, and Austin.
A visitation for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 6305 N. Blue Angel Parkway, Pensacola, FL, 32526. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Nathan Ragazinskas officiating. Lunch and reception with the family will begin at 12:00 PM following services. An inurnment will follow all events from 2:00 PM to 2:30PM at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens, 1985 W Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL, 32534
The family wishes to thank the 3rd floor nurses of The Veranda, Emerald Coast Hospice, who took extraordinary care of their mom. The love and kindness shown throughout her final days, especially at the end will never be forgotten.
