

Ray Wallace Overton, 89 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather, family member, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of those whose lives he touched so deeply. Ray lived a life defined by kindness, humility, faith, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Ray began his professional career in the furniture industry, where he built a respected reputation in merchandise and operations management. Never one to remain idle, Ray embraced a second career in logistics with Quest Diagnostics, where his strong work ethic, calm demeanor, and ability to connect with others continued to leave a lasting impression. He also proudly served in the Army Reserves for several years, carrying with him a spirit of service and dedication throughout his life.
To know Ray was to know genuine warmth. He truly never met a stranger. Whether through a quick conversation, a helping hand, or his steady and reassuring presence, Ray made everyone feel welcomed and valued. Guided by a deep and abiding faith, he loved the Lord wholeheartedly and lived his life as a reflection of that faith. Ray was devoted to serving his church and treasured his church family, finding great joy in fellowship, worship, and helping others whenever he could. His gentle spirit, servant’s heart, and steadfast belief were an inspiration to all who knew him. Those who loved him often remarked that he never raised his voice — his calm and compassionate nature spoke volumes about the man he was.
Gardening was one of his greatest pleasures and he nurtured both plants and people with equal care.
Above all else, Ray treasured his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Marsha; two devoted sons, Steve (Kay), Chris (Lisa); three cherished grandsons, Julian, Ethan and Aiden; and numerous wonderful extended family members, treasured church family, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Ray Overton Jr.; his sisters, Dorothy and Jeannie; his brothers, Don and Larry; and his mother and father, Burel and Flossie.
Ray’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, faith, wisdom, and love. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Pleitz Chapel, 500 N Palafox St, Pensacola, FL, on June 1, 2026, at 10:00 am, with a Memorial Service to follow beginning at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ray's memory to Samaritan Hands, First Baptist Church, 500 N. Palafox Street, Pensacola, FL 32501.
