Mr. Richard Gary Grayson II went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2025. Richard was born in Pensacola, FL, on June 22, 1964, and attended Pensacola Christian through high school, becoming salutatorian of his senior class. Richard graduated with honors from Auburn University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and later earned an Executive MBA from Duke University. He enjoyed a successful career with Milliken, Solutia, and Invista before purchasing his own company, Luftex, Inc., in Toccoa, GA, in 2014. Through hard work and determination, Richard overhauled the business, turning a once-struggling company into a great success.
Richard enjoyed many motorcycle trips with his lifelong friend, Herb Jernigan, as well as other traveling adventures and mischief with high school and college buddies. His hobbies included watching Auburn athletics, playing sports with his boys, sailing, golfing, boating, and spending time with family and friends. He loved his family and would do anything for them: his mother, sister and brother-in-law, niece and nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins, but most of all, he adored his two sons, Andy and Bennett, who brought him so much joy, happiness, and pride.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Hellon Grayson, step-father, Tom Moore, maternal grandparents, John and Carrie (McGill) Anderson, paternal grandparents, Crown and Vera Grayson, Uncle Kelly Grayson, Uncle Terry Grayson, and Aunt Marlene (Grayson) Stroupe.
He is survived by his adorable sons, Anderson and Bennett Grayson; his sister, Shea (Ron) Riles; nephew, Tyler Riles; and niece, Kate Riles, along with extended family and friends who loved him very much.
Although Richard’s sense of humor, warm smile, and generous spirit will be sorely missed beyond all measure, we know we will see him in Heaven again because he accepted Christ’s forgiveness of his sins at the age of eleven and loved his Lord and Savior above all else.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held Sunday, February 16th at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL, at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Ted Traylor and Dr. Jerry Passmore officiating. Visitation will take place immediately before the service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
