He was born in Pasadena, California to Glen and Gina Highman. Richard lived a life full of adventure. It all began when he attended the University of Redlands California class of 1974. He then joined the United States Army in 1977 and was a master instructor for motion pictures. After honorably serving his country for many years, Richard retired in 1996. He then became a published author. Richard taught briefly at Escambia High School. Later he would go on to become a realtor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Highman; daughter, Amy Highman-Close; and granddaughter, Destiny Close.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Highman; mother, Gina Brewington; daughter, Emily Highman; granddaughter, Isabella Manrique; brother, George Highman; sister, Lynn Soures; and a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Little Flower Catholic Church, 6495 Lillian Hwy., Pensacola, FL 32506. A rosary service will occur Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 6495 Lillian Hwy., Pensacola, FL 32506. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 6495 Lillian Hwy., Pensacola, FL 32506. An interment will occur Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.
