

LCDR Buchal was the son of Bernard J. and Mary Agnes (Loughlin) Buchal of Copenhagen, NY.
LCDR Buchal enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and took basic training in Newport, RI, then attended aviation machinist school. He served nearly a year on an aircraft carrier until he was appointed to the Pensacola Flight School and he received his wings just 23 months after enlisting. He served aboard the USS Albemarle and the USS Constellation as a meteorologist officer.
He volunteered at the Naval Aviation Museum where he was active with the ensuring that all the enlisted (Silver Eagle) pilots’ history was included in the archives. He acted as the sentinel of the Silver Eagles Association (SEA) files.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Louise.
Surviving LCDR Buchal are his daughter, Candace Ann Doroha and a sister Elinor Buchal Simmons. He has 3 grandchildren, Michael Doroha, Deborah Pettey and Christine Cowan and 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also by survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held on July 10th, 12 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 412 Bayshore Dr, Pensacola, FL 32507. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Inurnment will immediately follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors. Following, will be a reception at his home. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
