Marie was christened at St. John’s and was raised in the Catholic faith. Marie was the first-born child of Ruth (Lagos) and Robert E. Davis, and became the matriarch of the family after her mother died. She kept the family together. She and Ronnie hosted many Sunday family dinners at their home. Marie enjoyed gardening - growing plants, flowers and fruit trees. She had a “green thumb” – if she touched it, it grew! Marie also loved to cook and bake. She especially loved baking cakes and giving them as gifts at Christmastime. Her favorite pastime was playing Bingo. She was a serious Bingo player, inheriting the love of the game from her aunt and her mother. Marie will be dearly missed.
Marie is survived by her husband, Ronald J. Hale; sons, Jimmy (Nancy) Resmondo, Eddie Resmondo; step-sons, Ronnie Hale, Frankie Hale, and 6 grandchildren, all of Pensacola; father, Robert E. Davis, of Charleston, S.C; brother, Robert E. Davis, Jr. of Pensacola; brother, Tommy Nelson (Marjorie) of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Diane (Jim) McDonald, and Joyce Nelson, of Pensacola; and Sally (Bill) Sandiford of Jacksonville, FL; her aunt, Gloria Loper of Pensacola; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, her best friend Tracy, and her poodle, Susie (“’Lil Boo.”)
Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth, and step-father, Everett Nelson, her brother, Shorty Nelson, and her sister, Joann Bergosh.
