Jeanette was born to the late Charles and Vera Hamrick, February 10, 1932, in Troy, Alabama. She graduated from Pike County High School in 1951 and immediately went to work in her hometown of Brundidge, Alabama, working for several businesses over the next eight years. She married George Dyess in February, 1959 and the couple eventually settled down in Pensacola, Florida where they raised four children.
Jeanette is survived by her husband George, her children: Teresa (Steve) Layton, Pace, FL; Melissa Pestana, Pensacola, FL; Greg (Danielle) Dyess, Cantonment, FL; and Gina (Carl) Wilson, Seminole, AL. Her sister, Shelbia Jean (Larry) Davis, Troy, AL ; and sister-in-law, Betty Hamrick, Daytona Beach, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Jeanette was predeceased by her parents, her granddaughter, Kayla Wilson, and her brother Charles Hamrick.
Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who enjoyed caring for her home and family, as well as her flowers, hanging baskets and roses. On many late summer afternoons she could be found sitting in the swing under the pecan tree, watching the birds come and go from the feeder that she kept well stocked with seed. She was an avid reader and a lover of old movies.
But most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
