Shirley Ann Cooke, 79, of Milton, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 26, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Shirley was born in Milton, Florida on March 21, 1945. She was a Milton High School graduate. Her early hobbies included being a Majorette in school and also water skiing on the local Blackwater River in Milton. Shirley enjoyed caring for and raising her family in Pensacola, Florida and later returned to Milton to enjoy retirement. She had a love for shopping, whether it was browsing for clothes and matching accessories, or picking out gifts for a family member or friend she thoroughly enjoyed it. Shirley was thoughtful and generous to all whether family, friend, or someone she interacted with in passing.
Shirley devoted her life to her family and ensured they always had what they needed. Shirley had a large family but she always did her best to know what was happening in each of their lives. Holidays were very important to her and she would plan a holiday get together to get those who were available together. She was always available to talk or give advice and usually always had a solution to a problem. She was so proud of her family and always put their needs ahead of her own. She was the heart, soul, and glue to her family and she will be missed by all dearly.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Mae Sims; Father Maxwell Elliott; her brothers Luther, Glynn,and Lynn Elliott.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Doyce Cooke of 43 years; her daughters Sherry (Richard) Roberts; Suzanne(Frank) Troxel; Angela (Daniel) Crocker; her sons Timothy (Melissa) Dennis; James W. Dennis II; and step-son Rolf(Shelby) Cooke. She also leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel and Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, Florida 32503. Visitation for family and friends starts at 1pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm.
