Shirley A. Hooks

(1936-2013)

Shirley A. Hooks, 76, died from an extended illness at a local hospital on April 4, 2013. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and employed a Saufley Field until her retirement.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 38 years, James F. Hooks, Jr; sons Larry (Sylvia) Larson of Pensacola and Donald (Mary Ann) Larson of Lillian, AL; step-son Danny (Sherry) Hooks of Flomaton, AL; sister Eveyln Eaves of Biloxi, MS; brothers Dennis Helton, Jr.of Molino, and Eugene (Arty) Helton of Tucson, AZ; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was a devote aunt to many nieces and nephews. Shirley will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Henry Helton, Sr.; son, Ray Larson; daughters, Diane Larson and Sandra Plant; brothers, Frank Helton, Ronnie Helton, Alton Helton, Walter Helton, and Kenneth Helton; and sisters, Henrietta Howell and Nita Anderson.

Visitation will be from 5pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, April 10 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, April 11 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with the Reverend Ken Griffin officiating and burial to follow at Pensacola Memorial Garden.
