Susan was a beautiful, patriotic, passionate, and fun-loving wife, mother, and friend. She brightened every room with her twinkling eyes and beautiful smile. As a lifelong Navy Wife and legacy Elks Lodge member, Susan cherished the friendships she made while traveling the USA and overseas with her husband, CDR. Thomas A. Kennedy (ret), whom she met when he was in flight school. Her deep love extended to her sister Linda, her four children; Kyle, Christopher, Kevin, and Katherine, and her countless friends and patients. Susan's compassionate nature and love for people were truly remarkable. She embraced everyone she met, including all, in her fun loving ventures. Her love for Pensacola, Gulf Breeze and our beautiful beach was well known as were the many charities and benefits she organized for the community.
Susan's educational journey included attending Thomas Jefferson High School in Pleasant Hills, PA, where she grew up and receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Penn State University where her father and sister attended.
In her career, Susan was a dedicated Registered Nurse, having worked at Sacred Heart Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Pensacola, University of California San Diego NICU, Escambia County School District as a school nurse, and as Director of Nursing for a home health agency. She also served as an Employee Health Coach for a major insurance company. Throughout her career she saved and enriched the lives of countless individuals and families. Her passions included caring for the health and well-being of all children, education on healthy living having created the school garden program in Escambia County Schools, providing high quality home health care to critical ill children and improving the health of her fellow employees as their health advisor.
Outside of work, Susan enjoyed various hobbies such as traveling the world, singing in the church choir, attending concerts, dancing and entertaining friends, horseback riding, boating, and spending time at the beach with her dogs that she dearly loved. She enjoyed dressing up for Mardi-Gras balls and attending local parades and fundraising with her Krewe of Wrecks, and Pensacola Beach Women’s Club.
Susan's life will be celebrated at a service at St. Ann Catholic Parish, 100 Daniel Dr., Gulf Breeze, FL 32562, at 11:00 am, on Monday, May 20, 2024 with an uplifting celebration gathering to follow in the parish hall. The funeral home assisting with the arrangements is Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel and Memorial Park in Pensacola, Florida.
Susan Marie Kennedy is survived by her husband, children, sister, and remembered fondly by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Clark and Mary Clark. May she rest in peace, watch over us and prepare a place for us to join her in Heaven with our gracious and loving Lord and Savior.
