Theresa was predeceased by her father, JV Andrews, and her mother, Muriel Andrews. Theresa is survived by her husband, Doyle Pitts, and her sister, Jo Glisson.
Theresa had recently changed her preferred name from “Theresa or TC” to “August”.
August earned a master’s degree in education and worked as a teacher for Escambia County, and numerous positions for Pensacola State College (PSC). Most recently, she worked as an on-line math tutor for PSC and helped students who were having trouble with their homework or understanding various math concepts. She was very patient and worked with the students to make them feel confident that they could solve the problems. She found this work very rewarding.
August enjoyed gardening and maintained a backyard full of various plants, and a separate orchard with numerous nut and fruit trees. She also enjoyed music, and played, or was learning to play instruments including the guitar, organ, banjo, and drums. She was also an expert pool player and has won numerous prizes and awards in various leagues and tournaments.
August read from the Bible every day and could quote many lengthy passages. She is in good hands now.
A visitation for Theresa will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, followed by a funeral service from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
