Tuyet Loan Fortin, age 79, of Pensacola, went to the Lord on Friday, August 3 after a brief illness. Tuyet Loan was born on July 1, 1939 in Vietnam and is survived by her husband, Ronald, her mother Nguyen Thi Nhung and daughter, Ilene.
She came by herself to the United States in the late 1960s and became a language teacher. She taught Vietnamese to the military in Monterey, CA, met her husband and was happily married for 47 years. The Navy took them many places around the world before they settled down in Pensacola and reunited with her mother on her emigration. She was a devoted wife, mother and daughter – her family was her world.
Tuyet Loan loved to travel, and her favorite trip was when she was able to return to Vietnam with her mother and daughter to reunite with their family and show Ilene their heritage. She also had many talents including decorating, gardening, and sewing. In doing so she made everything more beautiful. She would spend hours in her garden tending to her many varieties of plants, both edible and decorative, and loved sharing them with others. She also loved to cook for family and friends. Her kindness and generosity were often extended to others in need.
Family, friends and those whose lives Tuyet Loan touched are invited to a viewing on Monday, August 6, between 5:00 – 7:00PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 N New Warrington Rd. Funeral Mass will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church, 6495 Lillian Hwy. on Tuesday, August 7, at 9:30AM.
