Walter Charles Mimms

1929-2016

Walter Charles Mimms, 87, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on October 2, 2016 peacefully in his sleep.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on October 5, 2016 at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. Reverend Johnny Franklin of Crown Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM prior to service. Burial will follow the funeral at NAS Pensacola Barrancas National Cemetery.

Charles was born in Pensacola, Florida on February 8, 1929 and married Ruth E. Mimms (Mott) on May 23, 1946. They were married 70 years.

Charles served in the Army and Navy during the Korean War. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at NAS Pensacola. He loved the members of Foley Apostolic Church as their pastor for more than 20 years in Foley, Alabama. He enjoyed traveling and spent many years traveling the US, Israel and other foreign countries.

Charles is survived by his loving wife Ruth (Short) and son, Danny, (Cheryl), brother Roy (Danice) and Ronnie, sisters Velma (Gene) and Velda (Bob) and numerous nephews, nieces and countless friends.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard L. Mimms and Wilkie A. Mimms; as well as his brother Donnie Mimms.

Flowers are appreciated or a memorial donation may be given to the West Florida Covenant Hospice. The family of Charles Mimms wishes to thank the West Florida Covenant Hospice staff for their loving care and service.
