Warren Walker, Jr. (Sonny to family) passed on Easter Sunday in Vitas at Ascension Sacred Heart, Pensacola, Florida. His memorial service will be held at the Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel 3351 Scenic Hwy 90E on Saturday, May 16, 2026 with visitation at 10:30 am and a celebration of life at 11:30.
He attended Little Flower grammar school in Myrtle Grove. There was an early hint of his flair and talent for performing when he sang When You Wore a Tulip on live TV on the Lynn Toney show in the 1950s. His high school years were mostly subdued by his standards as he and a small group of friends considered themselves nerds. He did well in math and sciences, winning a science fair award. After graduating from Pensacola Catholic High in 1961 he entered the seminary to become a priest. During those years he taught himself guitar, trumpet and sang and acted in various productions.
Upon leaving the priesthood he discovered the business world was also not his calling. When he was offered his first promotion his response was to resign. He lived in D.C, and New York before settling in Pensacola to care for his aging parents. His jobs included bar tending, waiting tables, restaurant management including owning his own restaurant. He obtained degrees in mathematics, theology and nursing. He taught various subjects at Pensacola High where his behavioral students considered him one cool dude. He finished his career as a nurse.
He was a Renaissance Man with many roles: Gym Boss, Cake Man, Bridge Buddy, Cajun Cook, Actor. He starred in multiple theater productions in Pensacola, but the world was his stage – always entertaining and making people smile with him. He was a good brother, a great friend who took the initiative to stay in touch.
He is survived by his sister JoAnne Zettler, his brother Paul Walker and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents Laura Comeaux Walker and Warren Walker and his brother Donald Walker predeceased him. In lieu of flowers, either donate to your favorite charity or reach out to a friend in need.
