David was born on April 21, 1927 in Pensacola, Florida, and loved fishing and just being on the water. He retired from the City of Pensacola, also worked for Escambia County Sheriff Department as a part-time deputy.
David’s passion was music and he could play almost any instrument, during his younger years he sang with Hank Williams Sr., & Marty Robbins and went further to record several songs of his own. He enjoyed playing the guitar, but his strongest passion was for singing, especially for his church and his family.
David is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Myrlene McCurley Kersey, and their children: Marcia (Lewis) Freeman, David (Sarah) Kersey, and Nina (Bruce) Wood. In addition to his immediate family, David is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
David is preceded in death by, his son “Jackie” Kersey, and all too recent, his daughter Melissa “Lisa” Whitworth.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Eastern Gate Memorial, 1985 W 9 Mile Rd., Pensacola, Florida 32533, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation be made on Behalf of David & Myrlene to the Bellview Baptist Church, 4750 Saufley Field Rd, Pensacola, Florida 32526
William David Kersey will be laid to rest in Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.
