

Albert James “Jim” Funk, age 90, of East Peoria, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus with his children at his side at 1:38 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
He was born May 28, 1933, in Gridley, IL on his family farm. He lived there with his parents Albert and Rose (Blunier) Funk and 3 sisters. He attended a one room schoolhouse during his elementary years. His family moved to town where Jim attended Gridley High School and participated in Football and Tumbling.
After Graduating High School Jim enlisted in United States Air Force.
He married LouAnn Herman on June 15, 1958, in Peoria. She passed away Nov. 12, 2019, in Peoria.
After living in Gridley 39 years, the family moved to Tucson, AZ for 25 years, returning to Peoria in 1996.
Following his time in the Military, Jim was a farmer, Computer Programmer Analyst, Builder, and Arizona Gear Plant Maintenance Manager.
Jim was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Peoria. He was baptized on June 2, 1956, He loved Jesus with all his heart and taught his children to do the same.
Jim had many interests, one of which was being a private airplane pilot. Jim was an innovator and creative craftsman and artist. He loved gardening and growing tomatoes for his produce stand.
Jim enjoyed a GIANT bowl of butter popcorn almost every night of his adult life.
Surviving are three children: Timothy (Deb) Funk of Peoria, Mary Leigh Funk and Nola Norton (dear friend) of Peoria, Fredrick (Diane) Funk of Morton, eight grandchildren: Dustin (Erin) Funk, Dr. Ryan (Alyssa) Funk, Aaron (Kendra) Funk, Isaac (Elise) Funk, Heather (Kyle) Plattner, Adam (Lindsay) Funk, Dr. Alex (Michaela) Funk, and Holly (Caleb) Moser. He is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters: Shirley Funk, Sarah Diggle, and Edith Freed.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 am on Friday till 10:45 a.m. all at the church. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Peoria Apostolic Church Cemetery near Edwards, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Peoria Apostolic Skylines Senior Living and Nursing Home or Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
