Don was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Kalb; an infant son, Robert William Kalb; 5 brothers, and 1 sister. Left to cherish Don’s memory is his loving family, beloved wife of 45 years, Robbin Kalb; sons, Donald G. Kalb Jr, Frank A. Surrells, James N. Surrells and Brian Curtis; daughters, Georgia A. Pierce, Tammy Fuller, Tonia Smith, and Tracy Holland; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe Kalb and Earl Kalb; a sister, Margie Browning, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don loved his kids and his grandkids, and enjoyed living life. He was all about work – known for being a workaholic. He owned and operated A & A and D & J Towing for almost 50 years in Peoria. Don and his brother, Jim, worked side by side in the towing business for over 10 years. Above everything else – he loved his family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 11am at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel with James Surrells officiating. The family will receive friends the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 5-7pm. Burial will follow the funeral service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
