Doris Mae Davis

Doris was born on April 7, 1929 in Strawn, Illinois to Jacob and Sarah Baer. She married Walter Davis on September 5, 1948 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2012.

Surviving Doris are her son, Walt (Lilli) Davis, Jr. of Germantown Hills; daughter Connie (Ron)

Anthony of Peoria; three granddaughters: Kelly (Justin) Driscoll of New Braunfels, Texas; Kathy (Corey) Dolan of Peoria; and Melanie (Ben) Davis-Campbell of Lakewood, Colorado; seven great-grandchildren: Ashley and Emily Walters, Aubrey and Eva Driscoll, and Bentley, Keegan and Liam Dolan. Also surviving is one sister, Wilma Perham, one sister-in-law, Betty Schaer, and one brother-in-law, George Hoerr. Doris also has many surviving nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: Mildred Staker, Eunice Roseboom, Roy Baer, Edna Arnett, Margaret Schlumpf, and Kathryn Hoerr.

Doris was a 1947 graduate of Dunlap High School. She worked for many years cleaning houses. Her biggest desire was to provide a loving home for her husband and children. At that, she excelled! Doris shared her love and affection with many of her relatives and friends. She was a tiny woman who possessed a big heart.

Doris and her husband were members of Cedar Hills Baptist Church in Dunlap, enjoying many years of fellowship. They loved taking fishing trips to Minnesota, enjoying the company of relatives and friends. They also spent many hours on bleachers cheering for their children.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, March 2, 2021 from 5 — 7 p.m. at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 W. Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria. Covid 19 safety precautions will be in place. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 with Pastor Tim Beddingfield officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hawley Cemetery in Peoria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, Cedar Hills Baptist Church, or a charity of choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Liberty Village for their kindness and care during Doris' stay there.
