Born February 9, 1937 in Pulaski, Tennessee to Woodard Burns and Florence Noah Burns. She married William M. Scribner on November 7, 1954 in Iuka, Mississippi. He passed away November 15, 2003, after 49 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons, William Frank (and Vickie) Scribner of Peoria, IL and Bobby Joe (and Frances) Scribner of Woodstock, IL. She is also survived by one sister, Gwen Green of Manchester, Tennessee, and her grandsons Jackson Scribner of Reno, Nevada, and Wes Scribner of Lewisburg, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother, and her granddaughter Sheila Ruth Scribner, whom she and her husband William raised.
In her high school years, she was a star basketball player in Lewisburg, Tennessee. She was a factory worker at Champion Furnace Pipe Company in Peoria, IL and later worked and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company as an operator.
She was a devoted and long-time member of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church. She touched everyone she met with her warmth, kindness and Christian spirit. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home on W. Willow Knolls in Peoria, IL on Monday, February 17 with visitation at 12:00 p.m. and the funeral at 1:00 p.m., the Rev. Philip Taylor will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Hawley Cemetery. As a memorial, please leave an offering to any Christian charity.
