

He was born Feb. 9, 1948 in Davenport, IA to Elmer F. and LoDema D. (Casey) Melton. He married Vicki Frazee on Dec. 28, 2006 in Chicago. She survives along with three children: Dru (Christine) Melton of Crystal Lake, IL, Nich (Christina) Melton of Holt, MI, Chelsea (Chris) Camp of Morton, two step-daughters: Autumn Hopkins of East Peoria, Natasha (Erik) Blumenstock of East Peoria, three grandchildren: Pearl, Max, Mia, three step-grandchildren: Haley, Troy, Taleah, two sisters: Susan (Bob) Haskett of Fort Meyers, FL, Rachel Keinath of Rome, IL, and two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother, George Harold Melton.
Elmer was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service Elmer went to work for Caterpillar, Inc. and worked there for 40 years retiring as a Materials Engineer in July of 2014. He enjoyed the Chicago Bears and Cubs, fishing, and spending time with his family and pets, Scarlett, Riley, and Sophi.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 27, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Illinois Cancer Center on Rt. 91.
