Elvyn Joseph "E.J." Eberle, 91, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Bickford of Peoria. He was born on September 22, 1932 in Heyworth, Illinois, a son of Julius Eberle and Alvina (Oertwig) Eberle.
He was married to Carol Kohl for 31 years and is survived by his three children, Cindy McCollough of Sante Fe, New Mexico, Don (Sandy) Eberle of Maroa, and Dan (Darcy) Eberle of Peoria; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Crowe of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; four brothers; and one granddaughter.
E.J. served his country in the United States Army, a veteran of the Korean War.
He worked as a milk truck driver for over 20 years, finally retiring in 2015. He worked as a dairy farmer for 18 years in the Dunlap/Princeville area. He also worked at Prairie Farms Dairy in Peoria for 21 years.
E.J. was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria, Teamsters Local #627 in Peoria, and A.F. & A.M. Lodge. He volunteered at Pekin Hospital for five years, was active in many bowling leagues for many years, he loved to work in the outdoors and restoring his 1976 Chevrolet Silverado truck.
E.J.'s funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. His visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023 also at the funeral home. Committal service will take place at Swan Lake Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Peoria with full military rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carle Health - Pekin Hospital.
