

PEORIA- Eula “Jean” Stanard, 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend, passed away at Buehler Home Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 2:15 p.m. She had resided there for 13 years.
She was born on February 28, 1922 in Jacksonville, IL to Fred and Gertrude Lister. She married Jack Stanard on October 2, 1949 in Peoria, IL. He died, November, 1998.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Frieda Houston, Althea Beck, and five brothers, Fred, “FA”, Gilbert, Harold Boregard, “Bog”, Greg, and William ”Bill”, and one niece Cindy Stanard.
Jean is survived by her sons, Mark (Sharon) of Morton, IL, Scott (Sam Perry, Fiancée) Stanard of Peoria; two sister-in-laws, Arlene Lister, and Ginny Stanard both of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Jeanette (Mark) Hacker of Naperville, Stephen Naug of Morton, Kathleen Stanard of New York City, NY, Kristin Stanard of Morton, Kimberly Stanard of Peoria, Shawn Perry, Matthew Perry, and Amanda Perry all of Peoria; three great grandchildren, Katie, Joe, and Megan Hacker of Naperville; nieces, Beverly (Jerry) Boers, Betty (Jim) Knafelc of Lasalle-Peru, Laurie (Larry) Flinn of Batavia, Debbie (Rick) Burns of Washington, Mary (Jim) Maubach of Florida; and her nephews, Steve Stanard of Los Angeles, CA, John Paul Stanard of Chicago, Mike (Carol) Stanard of Pekin.
Jean was employed by Arcadia Presbyterian Church, helped in the office of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bradley University, and worked as a secretary at Caterpillar Inc. for ten years.
She volunteered at Concordia Lutheran School, Illinois Eye Center, assisted with computer classes at Illinois Central College, belonged to ABWA and was chosen as their Queen for the year, and maintained the library at Buehler Home.
She was a long time member of Arrowhead Country Club.
Jean was loving and caring. She adored her grandchildren, and spent time cooking in her kitchen. Some favorite receipes were barbecued chicken wings, bleu cheese meatballs, soups, and cookies.
She was an avid follower of Betty Davis and Angela Lansbury’s “Murder She Wrote”.
Her witty sense of humor was with her until her life ended; she had a contagious laugh and was always concerned how others were being treated. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and doing mending for others.
Jean loved her church, Redeemer Lutheran, and attended faithfully with her husband and sons.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria. Rev. Dr. Joseph Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
