He was born April 2, 1914 in Marietta, Ohio. He was the son of Joseph and Leola (Ridgeway) McLaughlin. He married Jean Wingfield (Read) on March 24, 1971 in Atlanta, Georgia. She survives, along with three children, Jane Tapia of Atlanta, Georgia, Jim Read of Peoria, and Jeff Read of Chicago, Illinois. He has two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth Romero of Gulf Breeze, Florida. He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Mac and his wife owned and operated EMTOO Inc. for 30 years, and was a Pilot Examiner for the FAA of over 50 years. He operated Howard Aviation at Mt. Hawley Airport in past years, and was a past partner in Mt. Hawley Aviation in Peoria. He was a Civilian Air Patrol Pilot during WWII flying the coasts of the United States protecting the country from enemy submarine attacks.
He was a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Life member of the Civilian Air Patrol, NAVIONEERS, and the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Davison Fulton Woolsey Wilton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
