He was born on January 25, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa to Merle Clevert and Blanche (Hall) Free. They preceded him in death along with one brother, Paul Fain and one half brother, Bob Rohl.
Fred loved his family and is survived by his faithful friend and caretaker, Dennis Hensley of Peoria; one sister in law, Vicky Fain of Dunlap; one nephew, Rick (Sheila) Fain of Peoria; one niece, Lisa Leitner of Dunlap; many great nieces and nephews; and his cherished dog, Lucky.
Fred worked at Bergners, Ben Franklin, OSF, and was a State Health Care worker for clients in need. He enjoyed being outdoors and gardening but most of all loved to spend time with his dog, Lucky.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held an hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
