GeorgeAnn Siwicke, 65, of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, surrounded by family at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She was born on November 22, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa, to Henry and Catherine Kislia. She later moved to Peoria, Illinois, where she attended St. Philomena School and Peoria Central High School.
GeorgeAnn was an active member of St. Cecilia Parish and more recently attended Living Waters Church with her family. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from both Illinois State University (BA, English) and Bradley University (MLS). She retired from East Peoria High School where she taught English for nearly 20 years.
GeorgeAnn will be greatly missed by her husband of 44 years, Jerry Siwicke; her three sons, Hank (Darla), Jeff (Jenny Evans), Kevin; and her daughter Katie. Her three young granddaughters, Sadie, Sydney, and Sawyer, were the biggest joy in her life. Her sister, Jean (Ed) O’Connor, and her brother, Jerry (Chris) Kislia, will miss the always wonderful times they shared together.
GeorgeAnn had a rich and meaningful life that will be celebrated by all she touched. Always with a twinkle in her eye and an inviting smile that was impossible to resist, she made new friends easily. She had a strong commitment to her community and to the environment through her efforts for such organizations as Catholic Social Services, Sun Foundation, Clean Water Celebration, and co-authoring curriculum for the Illinois Rivers Project. Never one to turn down an adventure, GeorgeAnn was dedicated to traveling all over the country to visit her children, extended family, and friends. She loved books, writing, good conversation, nature, star gazing, philosophizing, and winter walks on Ft. Myers Beach with her husband.
A visitation will be held at Living Waters Lutheran Church, 7229 North Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, on Saturday, June 1, from 1 to 3pm with a memorial service to follow at 3pm. Arrangements are with Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her honor to: Sun Foundation, www.sunfoundation.org.
