

Gerald A. Binkele, age 68, of East Peoria, passed away Sunday Jan. 24, 2016 at 1:20 p.m. at his residence. He was born Oct. 27, 1947 in Peoria to Rudy and Lois (Baughman) Binkele. They preceded him in death along with one brother, William Binkele. Survivors include one sister, Martha (Arlan) Janssen of Hanna City, two nieces: Julie (Darren) Harding of Trivoli, Christie (James) Farmer of Pekin, one nephew, Greg (Dina) Janssen of Hanna City, seven great nieces and nephews, and close friends, Diane Bellamy and Lisa Peterson and her family. Gerald was a United States Air Force veteran, serving from 1966 to 1970. He worked for the Peoria Heights Police Dept. as a Dispatcher for numerous years. Gerald was a talented musician and played in several Peoria area bands including the Jack Vieley Band, Fat Albert’s Barrelhouse Band, The Nostalgics, Midnight Wind, and the Glenn Reader and the Countrymen. He also played at Shakey’s Pizza for several years. He was a member of the East Peoria American Legion Post 983. Visitation will be Thursday Jan. 28, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or to the charity of your choice.
