

Graham William Loomes, 82, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on September 18, 1942, in Cheltenham, England, a son of William Charles Loomes and Mildred (Murrell) Loomes. Graham married Eileen A. Simpson on March 28, 1970, in Airdrie, Scotland. She survives.
He is also survived by: his two daughters, Fiona (Sean) O’Laughlin of East Peoria, Illinois, and Sarah (Michael) Sullivan of Ponte Vedra, Florida; his four grandchildren, Ian and Gavin O’Laughlin, and Michael and Clare Sullivan; his sister, Carol (Colin) Frewin of Cheltenham, England; and his four nieces, Rebecca (Ashley) Glazher and family of Lincoln, England, Rachel Frewin of Cheltenham, England, Lesley McCracken and Lindsay Bennett and family of Uddingston, Scotland.
Graham was preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law, Jean McCracken, and brother-in-law, Martin McCracken.
He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from North Gloucestershire Technical College.
Graham worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 34 years, holding various positions in the United States and overseas, retiring in 2002. Before joining Caterpillar, Graham served in Voluntary Service Overseas where he taught math, physics, and technical drawing, and coached cricket at Kingston High School in Jamaica.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, collecting Toby jugs, gardening especially growing roses, traveling, reading, and singing. He was a member of the Corps Culinaire of Peoria, a men’s gourmet cooking club, for 35 years.
Graham’s family has arranged a visitation to take place at 9 am with a memorial service at 10 am followed by a reception on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at First Federated Church of Peoria. Reverend Ed Wegele will officiate. His inurnment will take place at a later date in the church columbarium.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for their skill, dedication, and compassion.
