Gregory D. Stone

PEORIA - Gregory D. Stone of Peoria died the evening of Saturday, July 30, 2016. He was a loving husband and best friend of Aleta Bacon for 27 years.He was born and educated in Peoria, IL. He attended Westminster College in Missouri and Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He became an accountant, real estate broker, appraiser and developer. Years of diligent and joyful work with his primary partners, Michael Landworth and Russ Waldschmidt, resulted in a rewarding and successful career. Greg was tenacious, focused and intelligent. He loved words, reading, yoga, running, skiing, his dogs, the Southwest and all of nature. He generously supported many philanthropic endeavors. He had friends from all walks of life and will be missed by many.He is survived by his wife, Aleta of Peoria; his mother, Margaret Stone of Peoria; two brothers, Jeff (Brenda) Stone of Chillicothe and Eric (Mary) Stone of Peoria; one sister, Kristine (Richard) Rainey of Peoria; and many nieces and nephews.Greg was preceded in death by his father, Delbert M Stone.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home.
