She was born on June 20, 1932 in Pekin to Emil W. and Anna Francis (Rossi) Gambetti. She married Ervin J. Hamilton on September 12, 1953 in Pekin. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1999. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Nancy Carson and Peggy Hamilton; grandson, Andrew Billings; twin brother, Pete Gambetti; and sisters, Nina Schacherbauer, Vi Heininger and Dolly Golden.
Hazel is survived by her granddaughters, Nicole (John) Bute, Tracy Carson, Michelle Dunn, Heidi (Nate) Wessler and Becky (Billy) Nugent; 10 great-grandchildren; and son in law, Max Carson.
Hazel worked for W.A. Laidlaw Wire Co. for 9.5 years and was a Weight Watcher Leader for 20.5 years. She also was on the Velda Rose Home Owner Board and the Help Services Board in Mesa, Arizona. She was Past President of St. Boniface Ladies Club and a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church.
Hazel loved to play cards and watch her two favorite shows, The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed walking, biking and swimming.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. Father David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
