Irene G. Porter

She was born March 9, 1923 in Campbell County, Tennessee to J. Albert and Nannie G. (Williams) King. She married Jess C. Porter January 21, 1941 in Westbourne, Tennessee. He died May 12, 2008 in Peoria.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Rick) McDonald of Peoria Heights, two sons, James (Kathy) Porter of Peoria, and Larry (Carol) Porter of Mapleton, 8 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Virgil (Shirley) King of Wilmington, North Carolina and Doyle (Gail) King of LaFollette, Tennessee, and one sister, Doris (Everett) Jeffers of Rockwood, Tennessee. In addition to her husband, one son Charles Porter and 4 sisters and 2 brothers preceded her in death.

Irene was a clerk for 23 years at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center retiring in 1985. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Peoria and its Good Samaritan Group and Stitches with Love Quilting Group. She was also a member of American Baptist Women’s Association.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria with Rev. Jim Vincent and Rev. Paul Maitland officiating. Visitation will be Monday July 8, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
