

Jack Defreitas, 72, of Peoria, passed away at 12:21 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born November 8, 1940 in Pekin to Charles and June (Russell) Defreitas. He married Patricia Cook on April 26, 1958 in Davenport, IA. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jack D., Jr. (Donna) Defreitas of Moberly, MO, Jeffrey D. (Carey Wren) Defreitas of Pekin; two daughters, Jodi Defreitas Jordan of Peoria, Jennifer (Robert) Fullen of Peoria; one brother Charles Defreitas of Morton; two sisters, Janice Watkins of Gainesville, FL, Shirley (Ray) Carpenter of Moline, IL; nine grandchildren, Jack III, Justin, Curtis, Quentin, Jacqualynne, Andre, Carissa, Jayden, Haley; and three great-granddaughters, Kirsten, Kara, and Aaliyah. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Bev Romesburg and Sandy Parrott. Jack formerly worked for Chris Hoerr and Sons as a supervisor. He later became a route salesman for Butternut (Interstate Brands Co.) for 19 years retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #627. Jack was also a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church and a volunteer for its food pantry. Jack led an active life, in his early years playing in many baseball, softball and bowling leagues. He was also a Chicago Cubs and Bradley Braves fan. Jack touched the lives of many and will forever be loved and remembered. He stepped out of this world into the Arms of Jesus. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Rev. John Plunkett and Rev. Nick Oyler will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Creve Coeur Christian Church Food Pantry.
