Jacqueline Delores Terrell Collins was born December 13, 1934 in New Albany Mississippi to parents Syke Terrell and her mom Alonia Frye. After losing her mom at an early age she was raised by Vilena Walls McGee. She was preceded in death by her parents, four stepsisters, and one son, Eric Collins. She was affectionately known as “Momma Jackie” to all that knew and loved her.
Mother Collins was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Mothers board for over 30 years. She also served as a driver for the Youth Ministries and she was the secretary for the Central District Association. Jackie was a beloved member of the Atomic Jets Motorcycle Club. She was a former employee of Caterpillar and she retired in 1992. Jackie served her community in many ways, including being a foster mother for many years for the State of Illinois where she was able to successfully transform the lives of many children. She had a special relationship with her foster son Antoine Brown who he lovingly calls her “Grandma Jackie”
She is survived by her children, Kevin Collins of Peoria, IL, Gregory (Tina) Collins of Hanna City, IL ,Sherry Collins of Milwaukee, Mark (Ilene) Collins of Skokie , IL, Edward (Becky) Minot, ND,
Edwin Collins and Christopher (Nicole) Collins, both of Peoria, IL, Kenisha Collins of Scottsdale, AZ, a granddaughter who she adopted and raised, Jessica Harris; a foster daughter whom she raised from birth and Rose Collins, her caregiver/daughter-in-love. She is survived by her brother Robert Terrell and sisters Pauline Terrell, Melanee Kersey, Evelyn Collins and Mary Ann Turner, special cousins Gracie (Toy), Cox, Josephine Vails and Murray (Limanillie) Fryar of Memphis TN, several grandchildren and great grandchildren a host of relatives and friends.
A visitation for Jacqueline will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, 3828 N. New York Ave, Peoria, Illinois 61614, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery.
