Jacqueline Pearl Petty, age 89, of Peoria Heights passed away on April 21, 2026, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home after a long battle with COPD. Born on October 17th, 1936, in Decatur, Illinois, she was the daughter of Stanley Nelson and Pauline Williams. She married John "Jack" Orrie Petty on June 6, 1963, in Peoria, Illinois.
Survivors include two children; daughter, Gina (James) Feehan of Fort Myers, Florida; son, Cory Petty, of Peoria Heights, Illinois; four grandchildren, Rob Peffer, Bradley Peffer, Brooke Peffer, and Jack Peffer, all of Tempe, Arizona; and one great grandchild, Isaac Boehm, of Metamora, Illinois, as well as four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister,
Susan Freer.
Jackie had been employed by Caterpillar in the early years, ultimately working for the City of Peoria in Code Enforcement, of which she retired in 2001. Jackie graduated from Manual High School in 1954, where she was the Salutatorian, and then taking classes at Bradley University.
Jackie enjoyed traveling with her mother and sister, Susie, and taking her mother to the horse races. She took care of her mother's parrot, George, after her mother's passing for several years. She also enjoyed reading, painting, and playing Keno. We will all remember her for her amazing cheesy potatoes every Christmas, even though she hated to cook. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchild more than anything in the world and would never miss a single event.
The family wishes to thank Accolade Healthcare of Peoria and the Richard Owens Hospice Center staff for the excellent care that they provided Jackie, especially her roommate, Cookie, at Accolade Healthcare of Peoria for her enduring love and companionship in her last months.
