

He was born September 23, 1950 in Hillsboro, IL to Alice Chaplin.
James is survived by his sister, Alberta Jean (Thomas) Cotten; four granddaughters, Alissa, Payton, Tawni, Natasha; one niece, Angel Hufeld; one nephew, Joshua Hartseil.
He was preceded in death by his mother and daughter, Debbie Robertson.
Jim was a lifelong learner and a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he celebrated 14 years of sobriety. His service to the community extended to his involvement with VFW Post 5921, where he held a Life Membership. His military service in the US Army from 1967 to 1970 as a lineman was a source of pride and commitment. Jim was also a skilled electrician, working for Bemis Bag from 1975 to 1988 and continuing his career at Diamond Star until his retirement.
A member of Masons Lodge #0263 for 42 years, Jim’s dedication to his craft and community was unwavering. His passion for life was also evident in his membership with the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and his fluency in Mandarin Chinese, reflecting his diverse interests and talents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at United Presbyterian Church, 2400 W Northmoor Rd, Peoria, IL.
Friends and family are warmly invited to join us for a meal and fellowship following the service at the church.
