

He was born on September 10, 1950 in Peoria to Alfred Harold and Margaret Ellen (Bailey) Jones.
He is survived by his spouse, Dawn Dunkin, and by two former spouses, Sandra Ford and Sharon Kuecks.
Also surviving are his children, Tracy (Chris) Spears, Alicia (Justin) Heft, Steven Jones and Kelsey Jones; grandchildren, Grayson, Camden, Thatcher, Madison, Samantha, Caleb, Danica, Winnie, Lucas, Madi Grace, Emmett, Franklin, Charlotte, Jackson, Bradley, Kurtis and Ava; two great-grandchildren, Arlington and Attalee; siblings, Neal Jones, Pat Melloy, Jacki (Wayne) Wiebler, Shelley (Randy) Messersmith and Trilla Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen Leaman; and brother, Mike Jones.
Jim began his career as a pressman at International Paper and later retired from Caterpillar. He enjoyed pub games and cards and was a true lover of music, good times, laughter, and family. An avid camper, adventurer, and gardener, he also remained a loyal Bears and Cardinals fan throughout his life. Above all, he was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, partner, and friend to the end.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Peoria Heights Christian Church with Pastor Rick Simkins officiation. Visitation will be held from 12-2p.m. on Thursday at the church.
