

Lindley Steere was born in Oxnard California on December 3, 1928, a son of Jason P and Emily (Smith) Steere. His parents were in the States from Bolivia, South America where they served as missionaries with the Bolivian Indian Mission. After their furlough they returned to Bolivia and Lindley spent his early years there. He was a graduate of the Moody Bible Institute in.Chicago, IL, and Eastern lllinois University in Charleston, IL, he attended Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY, and later received his Masters' Degree and Doctor of Education from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Lindley taught at Trinity International College in Deerfield, IL. Judson Baptist College in Portland, Ore, and at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. Lindley served as
a pastor for 14 years, and an Interim Pastor after retiring to Peoria. He also taught in the Moody Bible Extension Classes in Peoria four years.
Lindley married Mary Brooks on August 4, 1950 in a double wedding ceremony with her twin sister Martha and Roy Chamlee. They are the parents of three children, James Lindley (0'Ann Johnson) Steere, Jr. of Wheaton, IL, Richard Joseph (Irma Alvedrez) Steere of Oklahoma City, OK.. and Marilyn F. (paul) Moser of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister in Bolivia, a brother, David Steere, brother in-law, Dr. Roy Chamlee, sister-in-law, Helen Brooks Coontz He is survived by his wife, Mary, children, a brother, Paul J. (Ying Troung) Steere of Seattle, WA. and Sister in-law
Ruth Steere of Pontiac IL. Brother and Sister-in-Iaws: Ron and Bonnie Clark of Charleston, IL. Martha Chamlee of Greenville, SC, and ten Grandchildren: Toni Lynn Steere of Houston, TX, Marcie Steere (Msgt Keenan) Kelley of Anchorage, AK, Christina Steere, Maggie Steere (Chris)
Wingate, and Michelle Steere all of Oklahoma City, OK. Joshua Moser, Andrew Moser, and Lindy Moser (Jonathan) Hersey all of Peoria, Nathan (Crystal) Steere of Naples, FL, and Lorien Steere (Chad) Yonker of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, and
several nieces and nephews.
Lindley will be remembered by his love for his Lord and his dry sense of humor that kept his friends and family laughing.
Services will be held at Woodland Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015. with visitation one hour before the services. Pastor Joel Newton will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church or Hospice Compassus.
