She loved to travel and lived in Chicago and New Orleans after leaving Peoria. While working as a secretary for a marine operation there in NOLA, she would meet her future husband, Damon. They began dating and were married a short time later in 1975. Their son Clay was born Jan. 15th 1977, and upon seeing the child, they knew they had obtained perfection and abandoned all discussion of more children.

She served as a deacon and enjoyed assisting and helping with many of the church activities through the years. After the passing of her husband, Jan found many outlets to continue to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. She began taking ukulele lessons. She was an active member of TOPS Club and made many friends there. She loved spending time with her grandkids, partaking in activities such as Harry Potter movie marathons, going out to lunch or for desserts, or just watching them grow with the love and pride only a grandmother can understand.
Her favorite, most handsome, most gifted son, Clay, will always remember his mom as one of the strongest, bravest, most honest & caring people that he has ever had the pleasure of knowing.
